What makes a good day?
Is it getting out and about? Getting things done around the house? Going for a drive with someone you enjoy spending time with?
For one of our participants, it’s a bit of all three.
Since settling into his SIL home at Care I Wish, he has been embracing everyday life with a wonderful sense of enthusiasm. From getting involved in household chores to heading out into the community, he is building confidence, staying active and, most importantly, enjoying the freedom to make the most of his days.
And if there’s one thing that can instantly lift his mood, it’s a drive.
Whether it’s exploring the local area, heading out with support staff or simply enjoying the scenery along the way, these outings have become a favourite part of his routine. There’s something about getting out of the house, seeing something different and having a change of scenery that can turn an ordinary day into a pretty good one.
But the real story is happening in the everyday moments.
He has become increasingly involved in daily household chores, taking an active role in the routines that make his home feel like his own. Each task offers another opportunity to practise skills, make choices and build confidence.
And then there’s the community.
With support from his team, he has been getting out regularly and maintaining a lifestyle that keeps him connected to the world around him. Whether exploring nearby places or simply enjoying time outdoors, these experiences give him opportunities to engage with his community while doing things he genuinely enjoys.
What stands out most is his enthusiasm to be involved.
He enjoys participating in activities alongside his support staff, turning everyday outings into opportunities for connection, conversation and shared experiences. It’s a reminder that support isn’t about taking over. It’s about creating the space for someone to participate, choose and experience life in a way that feels meaningful to them.
This is where Supported Independent Living can make a real difference.
Behind every outing, household task and new experience is a dedicated support team providing encouragement, guidance and assistance when needed. They help create a safe and supportive environment where participants can develop everyday skills, build confidence, stay connected with their community and work towards their individual NDIS goals.
The result? More opportunities to make choices. More confidence to get involved. More moments that feel like their own.
Seeing him smiling, enjoying his favourite drives and taking an active role in everyday life is a wonderful reflection of that progress.
Because living independently doesn’t mean doing everything alone. **It means having the right support to help you live life your way.**
